Job Description

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
How’s this for job satisfaction: at Scottish Water we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we’re guarding Scotland’s reputation for refreshingly pure water, and caring for our environment at the same time.
Sound good? We’re looking for a Leakage Field Technician to join us in the South (Tweed) area, covering Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders.
What you’ll do
You’ll join an experienced team of field technicians responsible for maintaining District Metered Areas (DMA’s), controlling leakage and pressure levels within the water network, ensuring a strong focus on achieving our regulatory targets.
You probably figured it out already, but our aim is always to go beyond what the law and regulations expect of us, maintaining our excellent Health and Safety culture; innovative working; cost efficiency; operating procedures and systems.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
Assist with the maintenance of District Metering Areas (DMAs) meters and apparatus and carry out leakage surveys and sweeps, pro-actively monitoring and checking the integrity and operability of DMAs.
Carry out installation and monitoring of leakage detection equipment, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing loggers, instrumentation, ancillary equipment, meters and PRV/PSV’s.
Collect, evaluate and interpret data to identify areas of potential leakage – e.g. Nightline data, Night use allowances, DMA data, and may occasionally be involved in sampling when required.
Essential Skills:
We’ll get you fully up to speed on the technical bits of the job. You’ll bring strong communication skills, leakage experience and confidence working on your own. And be comfortable turning your hand to new systems – we like to move with the times.
Attention to detail is a must: on your watch there should be no risk of health and safety failures. An eye for spotting trends is helpful and you’ll love solving a problem – on your own initiative and with help from colleagues.
You’ll need a valid driving licence, but we’ll provide the van
What you’ll get
The salary range for this role is £24,741 - £35,566 per annum pro rata (depending on skills and experience).
You can also expect
  • 38 days of holiday per year (including public holidays) with the option to buy 5 more
  • Eligibility to join the defined benefit, contributory pension scheme
  • Annual company bonus
  • Life assurance scheme
  • Paid time off for community volunteering
  • Access to "SW Splash", saving you money on holidays, bills and shopping
  • Excellent family friendly policies around Adoption, Maternity, Parental Leave, and Flexible Working
The closing date for applications is the 25th of May 2023
