Job Description

  • Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils - Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 1AD
  • £20,077 per annum, plus fully funded NVQ training
  • Full Time, 37 hours per week
  • Fixed Term for 18 months (NVQ 3 qualification level)

  • Are you about to take exams or have recently finished school or college?
  • Are you looking for a fresh challenge, or change of career?
  • Would you like to gain an NVQ level 3 whilst earning a competitive apprenticeship salary and gaining invaluable work experience?

We are looking for two Apprentice Improvement Technicians to join our Customer Service Team. These fantastic opportunities will provide you with invaluable skills and work experience on which to build a rewarding future career.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people who are keen to learn and can demonstrate the drive and ambition to succeed.

About the roles

Do you want to improve what we do for our residents?

Working within the Customer Services Team, the Improvement Technician Apprentice will help the team to identify opportunities to improve Council services for our customers and support projects to improve customer experience, satisfaction, and internal efficiencies.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from across the Councils, working collaboratively with all service areas to ensure we not only deliver the best possible value for our residents but also the best possible customer service.

You will provide direct support to customers by answering queries at the first point of contact through a range of communication methods, including telephone, e-mail, webchat, general correspondence, text, social media and in-person at the council’s customer access points, transferring or signposting customers to colleagues or external sources of information for help where appropriate.

You may also support customers with the use of our digital platforms, providing them with the guidance they need to access our website and online resources independently, promoting digital inclusion.

This is a development opportunity combining practical work experience with study towards an Improvement Technician NVQ Level 3 qualification. During the 18 month period, you will gain skills in change management, project management, continuous improvement, and business analysis.

This role will provide invaluable insight into working in change management and customer services within Local Government.

About You

We are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to develop their potential by combining practical work experience and study, to achieve an NVQ Level 3 Improvement Technician qualification.

  • Confident with good communication and IT skills.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office.
  • Keen and eager to learn.
  • Positive and enthusiastic.
  • Interested in Local Government.
