Job Description
The overriding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal
actions and evidence based woman centred care which can be delivered in a variety of models.
To provide total midwifery care for both high and low risk women within all midwifery environments. .
Providing the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period. Deliver care in a manner, which promotes a woman centred focus and supports the
continuity of carer model.
To work and give support within the multi professional team to ensure women receive seamless
maternity care.
To provide effective communication and liaison with other acute providers of maternity care, engaging
with other partners and members of the wider multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
To work as a member of a Multidisciplinary team that nurtures an environment of flexible team working.
- Contribute to the provision of efficient caring and responsive 24-hour midwifery service.
- Practice evidence based midwifery care, applying knowledge and skills to meet the needs of women and their families.
- Support the ward/dept co-ordinator in monitoring and reviewing quality standards that impact on the provision of care.
- Maintain, update and develop personal and professional knowledge and skills enabling standards of client care to be constantly improved. Maintaining a personal portfolio.
