The primary function of this role is to manage the manufacturing press tools by regularly checking and making repairs as necessary to maintain quality and productivity of the manufacturing press tools.
Tool Maintenance
-
Carry out planned preventative maintenance/improvements of all Press Plant tooling.

Ordering and inventory management of Press Tool parts required for maintenance.

Planning and execution of press tool maintenance in cooperation with external contractors.
Repairing the Press Tool
-
First line response to Tooling breakdowns.
Change Over
Carry out model changeovers to tooling.
Fault finding
-
Find faults based on critical dimension measurement/cosmetic checks of press parts.
Provide support for manufacturing equipment if required
Experience
-
HNC/HND (or equivalent)
-
5+ years’ experience with a Toolmaking background
-
Time served apprenticeship
Knowledge and Skills

Drawing reading skills
-
Machining skills (Turning, Milling, Grinding, Drilling, Welding etc)

Fork truck driving skills
-
Sling work skill
-
Measurement skills (Caliper, Micrometer, Height gauge etc)

Office skills (creating reports and work logs)

Accurate fault-finding techniques

Knowledge and application of safe working practices, good housekeeping (5S) and completion of Risk Assessment Reports
Competencies

Demonstrates critical thinking and analysis when applying solutions to engineering problems.

Able to teach apprentices.

Ability to liaise with material suppliers and tooling contractors.

Experience of working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Working Hours: 07:30 – 16:30 Monday – Thursday, 07:30 – 12:15 Friday.
