The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), part of GCHQ, is the UK Government’s lead authority on cyber security. The organisation is at the heart of the Government’s cyber security strategy and has the aim of making the UK the safest place to live and work online.

This role will form part of the Portfolio and Delivery area within NCSC which provides business enabling services for NCSC staff. The key focus for the role is to be the lead for implementation for operations under our flagship industry engagement scheme, industry 100 (i100).

We are looking for a talented, flexible and committed person from all backgrounds. A practical thinker, natural trouble-shooter, and excellent communicator, you will thrive in an evolving technological environment and bring others with you using your outstanding engagement and relationship management skills. You must also demonstrate strong curiosity and an ability to engage and inspire people both within the Civil Service as well as other sectors such as Industry and Academia.

Job description

  • With support and direction from the lead for i100, managing the day-to-day operations of the industry 100 enabling team.
  • Ensuring compliance of i100 scheme to reduce risk to NCSC through the management of and continual improvement of processes.
  • Lead on briefing international, other government departments, and external partners as requested by senior management.
  • Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders across NCSC including enabling teams and industry 100 team hosts.
  • Identifying new opportunities for i100 to support the NCSC and have greater impact for the UK as a whole.
  • Organising i100 community events both virtually and at locations across the UK.
  • Management of relationships with i100 participants and their home organisations.
  • Advocating for the scheme across NCSC, including briefing at team meetings and inductions.
  • Responsibility for publishing up to date internal and external comms, including organising and publishing blog posts, maintaining the external website and developing a strategy for i100 community comms.
  • Supporting the i100 Advisory Group and shaping i100 strategy.
  • Supporting the NCSCs equality, diversity, and inclusion agenda and promoting diversity and inclusion across the i100 scheme.
  • Line management of the industry 100 Coordinator role.

Person specification

The successful candidate will liaise across multiple NCSC teams and corporate functions, as such the successful candidate should be comfortable operating independently and taking responsibility for delivering against specific objectives and key results for the Industry 100 scheme and overseeing the day-to-day operations for successful scheme.

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, proactive, and organised. The successful candidate will have experience of team leadership and relationship management and can comfortably engage with a variety of external and internal stakeholders. The candidate should be willing to represent the Industry 100 scheme, including on occasion attending meetings with civil service and industry stakeholders.

The role is not technical and previous cyber security experience is not essential, you will be connecting technical cyber-focused colleagues from Government with external industry stakeholders. You do not need to be a cyber security specialist, but able to grasp and translate cyber security issues and be comfortable learning about the areas of Cyber Security specialisms that exist in teams across NCSC.

The NCSC will assess you against competencies used by the UK Intelligence Community. These competencies are based closely on the Civil Service Behaviours. The competencies you will be assessed against are:

Before You Apply

This role requires the highest security clearance, known as Developed Vetting (DV). It is something everyone in the UK Intelligence Community undertakes. You can find out more about the vetting process here.

The role is based in London or Manchester, so you will need to live within a commutable distance. Please consider any financial implications and practicalities before submitting an application, as we do not offer relocation costs.
