All our recruitment at Companies House uses the Civil Service Success Profiles framework, which will assess your behaviours, strengths and experience. Our recruitment process is underpinned by recruitment which is fair and open with decisions made on merit, as outlined in the Civil Service Commissioners’ Recruitment Principles.
In your application form we’d like you to:
-
Tell us about your employment history, including key responsibilities and achievements.
-
We’d like you to write a personal statement of 1000 words where you tell us about why you’d be great for this role – we'd like you to particularly include your experience and skills that match what we’ve asked for in the person specification and also tell us about how you can evidence the behaviours we’ve included in the advert.
-
We'd also like you to write 250 words where you tell us about a time you have made an effective decision in an intelligence environment. If we get a high volume of applications we will carry out a pre-sift by reading and scoring these 250 words.
You can find more guidance on completing your application here. We’re committed to being diverse and inclusive, so please make your application anonymous by removing all identifying personal information (such as names and dates) from your employment history and personal statement.
What will the process look like?
-
If we receive a high number of applications, we will carry out a pre-sift based on the 250 words you write about a time you've made an effective decision in an intelligence environment. Candidates who are successful at pre-sift stage will progress to the main sift where we will read and score the rest of the application form.
-
If we don't receive a high number of applications we will consider the 250 words you write about a time you've made an effective decision in an intelligence environment, as part of the main sift.
-
Successful candidates at main sift will be invited to interview, where we’ll explore your skills, experiences, the behaviours mentioned in the advert and your strengths.
Where will you be working?
The majority of this team are currently working in a hybrid way and this will also apply to this role – currently the successful candidates will be asked to attend our Cardiff office a minimum of 1 day each week, with the rest of the time working from home. In future this could increase when office attendance is reviewed. Also, there will be an initial training period for this role where successful candidates will be based in our Cardiff office.
Childcare vouchers
Any move to Companies House from another employer will mean you can no longer access childcare vouchers. This includes moves between government departments. You may however be eligible for other government schemes, including Tax-Free Childcare. Check your eligibility at https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/.
Successful candidates must pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before they can be appointed. BPSS is an entry level security check. It uses the Police National Computer (PNC) to make sure a candidate has no convictions. The check returns evidence of any current criminal record and un-spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed. To gain (SC) clearance you will normally need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years, and will need to successfully complete all stages of the vetting process which includes:
- Baseline Personnel Security Standard
- Departmental/Company Records Check
- Security Questionnaire
- Criminal Record Check
- Credit Reference Check
- Security Service Check
Nationality statement
Candidates will be subject to UK immigration requirements as well as Civil Service nationality rules. If you're applying for a role requiring security clearance, please be aware that foreign or dual nationality is not an automatic bar. However certain posts may have restrictions which could affect those who do not have sole British nationality or who have personal connections with certain countries outside the UK.
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
