Job summary

The Information Manager (iMgr) is responsible to the Senior Information Owner (SIO) for all information management processes within RAF Spadeadam and the Aggressor Sqn. The iMgr also acts as the Stn Information Support Officer (ISO) and Records Mgr.

This post is advertised for 37 hours per week

Job description

The successful candidate will be explicitly responsible for the following:

  • Acting as line manager for the Information Management (IM) Administration Officer (AO) and the Stn DATO.
  • Maintaining familiarity with Defence and AIR IM policy.
  • Ensuring RAF Spadeadam’s information requirements (physical and electronic) are met.
  • The efficient management of RAF Spadeadam’s collaborative working environment. (MS Sharepoint and Teams).
  • Providing support to RAF Spadeadam personnel on all aspects of information management.
  • Oversight of RAF Spadeadam Super Users including development of their IM skills and competencies.
  • As Stn Records Manager, ensuring the deletion of material of no value, including duplicated data, rough drafts or redundant information that is no longer required, in accordance with iaw Defence and Air policy.
  • Facilitating Information Assurance processes.
  • Promoting information security across RAF Spadeadam.
  • Producing the Stn information management plan.
  • Enacting policy and guidance for the effective application of DPA18, GDPR and associated legislation.
  • Ensure risks to IM within business area are understood and managed.

Person specification

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a proven background in Information Management and have a strong awareness of MOD systems and processes. They should be experienced with regard to utilising SharePoint, O365 applications and managing team sites. They will possess excellent managerial, organisational and investigative/problem solving skills; be a meticulous worker and good team player within a small, but busy, section. They should be equally comfortable working independently or with external and internal stakeholders.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.

Following a sift successful candidates will be invited to RAF Spadeadam for interview. Candidates may be required to evidence their IT skills by performing a practical task on MS Teams and/or Sharepoint.


Candidates will be required to provide CV details to include: job history; qualification details and previous skills and experience.
