Location: Farnborough, Hampshire

Working Pattern: We are looking to recruit a full time teacher but will consider applications for full time/part time patterns or job shares.

Start date: 29 August 2023

We are looking for a passionate Criminology Teacher to join this high achieving and exciting department. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver inspiring lessons, bring knowledge and experience to the curriculum, and have a desire to teach beyond the specification in the belief that every student can succeed. We inspire our students both in the classroom and beyond nurturing an appreciation of this rich subject with industry days featuring police and forensic scientists, trips to London for conferences and talks with key people from the criminal justice system. .


All staff within the Trust need to have a commitment to professional development, an enthusiasm for team work and a passion for innovation in teaching and learning and desire to constantly improve. We value self-reflective teachers.


While a teaching qualification is desirable, we will consider applications from non- qualified graduates. Graduates looking to start a career in teaching at the Sixth Form College will be allocated a reduced timetable with comprehensive support and mentoring. Future opportunities to obtain a teacher qualification will be considered.

Day to Day Expectations of a Teacher


A full time teacher will have 22.5 hours per week contact with students, split over 5 Teaching groups (15 periods ) with 5 additional periods for preparation & marking.

On a Tuesday all staff are expected to attend a briefing at 8.40am and departmental meetings / all staff staff CPD after college, finishing at 5.20pm.

Throughout the year there are a number of whole college events, (open evenings, parent evenings, Interview day, enrollment) at which attendance is required.

Common resources are shared within departments and there are regular opportunities for professional development, delivering extracurricular student clubs and wellbeing / social activities.

As a new member of staff you will receive plenty of support from your colleagues both from the department and from the wider college community. This will include:

  • a mentor to help you through the first year (in particular);
  • support from your curriculum manager and director of faculty; and
  • an extensive programme for all new staff to help induct you into College life as well as to develop your approach to teaching
