We are looking for a dedicated and reliable person to join our team.

The role is to provide support in the workplace and community to our client who is a Care Manager within Social Care at Sheffield City Council. The client works closely with young people, their family/ carers and MDT teams. The client goes on regular home visits across the city to meet young people, and complete assessments and support plans. Part of their job involves being on duty and supporting people in crisis.

The client is Neurodivergent and has a formal diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome, including coprolalia.

About the Role: -

As an Access to Work Support Worker/ Support Worker Driver your responsibilities will include:

- Support with travel to and from work visits across Sheffield and occasionally out of city (Confident car driver with access to own car is essential).

- Support with travel to and from the client’s home address (currently S11)/ work (currently S1) at least twice a week.

- Confident and comfortable supporting someone with Tourette Syndrome, including coprolalia.

- Support worker to support client to manage the publics reactions to their Tourette’s/ tics and coprolalia.

- Support in the office, especially regarding managing the environment and task transitions.

- Working with the client to make a support and management plan, with an understanding that Tourette’s/ tics can wax and wane and change in its presentation, therefore the support plan will be under regular review.

- Providing reassurance and emotional support.

- Support worker to build an understanding of the clients triggers and signs they are anxious, becoming overwhelmed and struggling with their Tourette’s/ tics.

- Support worker to be able to support client when they are having a tic attack and support them to a safe place, in line with support plan (training will be provided by client).

- Organising calendar and to do lists collaboratively with client.

- To attend meetings, visits and training with client when required.

- Taking notes for client when required.

- To take phone calls for client when required.

- General ad hoc administrative/supportive duties.

Availability and flexibility requirements:

- 15 hours a week

- An understanding that the client’s role requires flexibility and is not the same day-to-day or week-to-week.

- Support Worker to have flexibility over a 4-day period (currently Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – however this can change).

- Support worker to be able to be available for visits late afternoon/ early evenings – for instance 16:30 – and be able to then support client from this visit.

- Some weeks the client will require 2 days support totalling 15 hours - most likely on a Monday and Thursday. Other weeks the client may require support 3-4 half days a week, for instance.

- Client will organise their work calendar collaboratively with the Support Worker.

About You

You will be able to demonstrate:

- An informed understanding of neurodiverse conditions, including Tourette Syndrome (preferred).

- Experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and recognising that everyone’s needs are different (preferred).

- Willingness to undertake training and build an informed knowledge of Tourette Syndrome and specifically how this impacts the client (essential).

- Confident and comfortable supporting someone with Tourette Syndrome and coprolalia (essential).

- An interest in social care (essential) and experience working in a social care setting (preferred).

- You will have a relaxed and easy-going personality with a high level of written/verbal communication and professionalism.

- You will be able to demonstrate a high level of trust and integrity with a good understanding of confidentiality.

- You will be punctual, organised, and reliable.

- Have a calming supportive nature and approach to challenges.

- You will be flexible in your approach.

- Have a valid DBS and be able to provide proof (required).

- The client is a woman in their 30's. It would be advantageous if you have similar interests including going on walk and to cafes, music, dogs, drawing/ collaging and bright colours.

- To be comfortable around dogs as the client has a dog at home and you will occasionally be required to support the client when working from their home. The client’s dog is also potentially going to be trained as an assistance dog.

Pay, Hours and Benefits

- In return you will be paid £14.35 per hour.

- 15 hours to be worked flexibly through the week.

- Plus, holiday entitlement paid each month with your salary and an employer’s contribution to a workplace pension.

A high standard of office administration including organisation, and diary keeping to really make a difference to someone’s working life and career is essential.

The role involves working one-on-one with the client, providing administrative and organisational support to facilitate their own professional role.

About the Role: -

As the Administrative Support Worker your responsibilities will include:

· Taking and typing up notes;

· Administration of Calendar and diaries

· General ad hoc administrative/supportive duties.

· General ad hoc office duties to ensure that the client remains organised, focussed and professional.

Assisting the client with management of their condition when attending client homes and meetings

About You

· In return you will be paid £14.35 per hour, working hours are up to 15 hours to be worked flexibly through the week;

· Plus, holiday entitlement paid each month with your salary and an employer’s contribution to a workplace pension.
