Who are Lloyds Banking Group and where does this role sit?
Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) is the UK’s biggest Retail, Digital and Mobile bank with over 30 million customers. Our products touch the lives of millions, so we have a huge responsibility to help Britain Prosper. With data at the heart of our group strategy, now is the perfect time to join our Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) and be part of our exciting transformation into a cloud-enabled, data-driven organisation!
CDAO brings together Data Engineering, Data Science, Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Management. Helping to build data solutions across all areas of the business such as; customer segmentation, pricing, customer experience, credit decisioning, commercial performance and fraud detection.
With your skills spanning across data mining/analysis/modelling and a variety of modern and traditional data platforms, (e.g. Teradata, Hadoop, Kafka, GCP, Azure, SQL server) you’ll get to work on a vast range of high-profile cloud leveraging projects.
Together we make it possible…
What follows is what you might find our Data Engineer mostly doing, but your experience will flex depending on the team's needs, and your own aspirations. Our objective is to grow and build an environment where you can do what you enjoy.
You will belong to a multi-functional team, working alongside the business, product owners, data scientists, machine learning engineers and Business Intelligence specialists to solve some of the Bank's toughest business problems.
Developing high quality, reusable data pipelines at scale, ingesting structured and unstructured data into our data lake, and feature engineering for machine learning or curating data for consumption through analytics and BI. Working in a variety of server and cloud environments, using innovative toolsets, as well as evaluating exciting new technologies to expand our capabilities.
About you:
You're the sort of confident data professional we’re looking for – passionate about both data/analytics with a talent for solving problems through data and translating data into analytical based opportunities.
With some relevant skills and experience, possessing a mix of excellent communication skills: influencing and working effectively with technical and non-technical audiences - asking intelligent questions and able to make complex data analysis simple. We appreciate this could come from a wide range of roles and are open to seeing what people can bring.

Experience and Skills
Essential:
  • Any past coding/scripting experience in at least one of the following scripting languages in a commercial/industry setting
  • Experience of working with relational and non-relational databases to build data solutions
  • Computer science fundamentals: a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, design patterns and core programming concepts
  • Experience of delivering change projects
Desirable:
  • An understanding of or experience of working with cloud technology for analytics and/or machine learning
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
What can we offer you in return?
In return for your expertise, you'll be rewarded with excellent benefits and our total dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We'll help you perform at your best today, so you can fulfil all your potential tomorrow.
