Job Description
Job description for Junior Project Manager
Are you passionate about Project Management? Are you looking to progress your career whilst supporting our UK’s Armed Forces? We may have the perfect opportunity for you! Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) are expanding our Project Management teams and you could be the person we are looking for.
We are currently recruiting Junior Project Managers to join our Air Defence and Electronic Warfare Systems (ADEWS) Team, based at RAF Henlow.
What do Junior Project Managers do in DE&S?
Junior Project Managers are accountable for supporting projects to ensure they are delivered on time, on budget and within scope. Project Managers within DE&S are key to successful and timely delivery of safe and effective equipment to Front Line Commands and their service personnel. Every day we play a functional part of making this happen, and that is ultimately what is important.
Growing your career as part of DE&S, we will provide you with the diverse opportunities at the forefront of ensuring the delivery of crucial and significant projects. Working with the RAF Henlow team, you will find yourself supporting a multitude of air defence projects. These could include working on radars, radios, antennas, structures and radomes (radar protectors), as well as specialist electronic warfare facilities. With a portfolio of projects, you could find yourself working hand-in-hand with industry, wider projects teams, or alongside our military personnel, on anything from acquisition, modifications and support projects.
Don’t have any previous experience in the Defence sector? Do not worry, so long as you have a desire to learn, we will provide training and coaching to get you up to speed quickly. You will be supported by your manager and wider team to achieve your career goals and aspirations with mentoring available to fulfil your potential and funding for industry-recognised qualifications.
If you have the pride, passion and commitment, with the drive to develop your skills and experience of leadership and delivering successful outcomes, then you will find yourself in good company at DE&S.
Our RAF Henlow site operates a hybrid working environment and the expectation is that you will attend site approximately once or twice a week, in accordance with business needs. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team and the position you will be working on in more detail. Please be aware that, under the Defence Estate Optimisation Strategy, RAF Henlow is expected to close with the ADEWS team moving to Bassingbourn (SG8 5LX) during mid to late 2024.
