Job Description

Van Technician/MOT Tester


Rygor MAXUS and APEX: Reading, Rose Kiln Lane, Berkshire

Starting at £18.00 per hour

  • Mon – Fri. 40 hours per week. 9:00 to 17:30.


Your Role

As a Van Technician, your role will be to keep our customers’ vehicles on the road, via quality, safe and compliant maintenance. Additionally, you will be able to MOT vehicles, offering our customers an exceptional standard of service.

We are committed to investing in your career and skill set, so when you join our technical team, you will benefit from an annual appraisal and ongoing training, and we also put all our technicians through the IRTEC Inspection Accreditation, part of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.


Additionally, you will have the following skills and experience:


  • Valid MOT Licence, MOT card and VT8 for relevant class of vehicle, plus an accepted qualification or accreditation to test class 3, 4, 5 and 7 vehicles (preferred).
  • Level 3 (NVQ or City and Guilds or IMI Qualification) in LCV Vehicle Repair and maintenance (Preferred) - Will accept car technicians.
  • Current and full UK driving licence for the relevant vehicle classes
  • Level 2 testing certificate in class 4 and 7 vehicles (group B) (preferred)
  • Passed an MOT demonstration test after getting level 2 certificate
  • Attention to detail to carry out quality MOT tests
  • Ability to identify worn & faulty components in accordance with the DVSA Standards
  • Fantastic communication skills via email, telephone, and face to face
  • Practical experience in an After Sales environment
  • Ability to use all appropriate modules of Keyloop/Kerridge
  • Good administrative knowledge
  • Complete customer documentation while working to agreed time scales
  • A brilliant team player
  • Positive attitude and flexible with workloads
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Wheel alignment
  • Tyre fitting
  • Experience in carrying out diagnostic and service repairs.
