Our role sits within HMRC’s Chief Digital & Information Office (CDIO) Group that deliver solutions for a broad range of technical and operational issues.

Mobility and Workplace Services (MWPS) is part of the CDIO Enterprise Platform Service (EPS). We act as a key interface between CDIO and the wider HMRC estate.

We innovate, design and build IT services and ensure they are implemented across HMRC at the right time and are monitored effectively. We support customers to utilise tools which contributes to HMRC achieving the ambition to become one of the most digitally advanced tax administrations in the world.

Job description

As Service Owner you will be responsible for setting the Vision and Strategy for CDIO Desktop Services including Service Offerings, Device Management, Collaboration & M365 Evergreen to ensure that processes are customer centric and meet user needs.

You will be accountable for the quality of your portfolio, managing end-to-end services which include multiple products and channels. You’ll operate at scale and provide the connection between multidisciplinary business areas and stakeholders.

You will:

  • Set a clear vision and standards, making sure our products and services meet HMRC Strategic direction.
  • Strategic lead for the management, monitoring and development of MWPS portfolio of Desktop Services, for example identifying and implementing continuous improvement of those services.
  • Working knowledge of Service Management, Commercial and financial processes and Change Governance.
  • Ensure effective supplier relationships are developed and maintained for all MWPS Desktop Services.
  • Strategic lead for a multi skilled and geographically dispersed team.
  • Working closely with the Operational Contract Manager to ensure SLAs, KPIs and PIs for your services are monitored, and reported accurately.
  • Be accountable for the Operational Supplier Management of your Services, working closely with Operational Contract Manager and commercial colleagues on renewals, extensions, new procurements and contract exit activity.
  • Act as a senior level escalation for senior stakeholders.

Person specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Extensive experience in developing strong stakeholder relationships in a large and complex IT Live service environment.
  • Excellent demonstrable strategic leadership skills/experience.

Desirable Criteria:

  • ITIL v4 credited or a commitment to undertake accreditation.
