Hybrid Working

The Home Office hybrid working model means that staff will need to attend their workplace a minimum of 40% of their contracted hours, averaged over an agreed period which suits business needs.   • Data Analyst Level 4 Apprenticeship

Responsibilities

You will be a hard-working and enthusiastic individual with a flexible and collaborative approach to work. You will be someone who can work well as part of a busy team but are equally comfortable working independently or with limited supervision. In these roles, you will be making a positive contribution to the overall success of your business area.

Data Analyst Apprenticeship

As a Data Analyst Apprentice, you are given experience of practical data analysis work under supervision from more senior colleagues.

You will gain experience of collecting, organising and studying data to provide business insight. You will develop skills in understanding, manipulating and accurately analysing data to provide insight for internal and external stakeholders across a broad range of areas (e.g., Business Intelligence, Data Assurance and Quality).

You will build expertise in applying tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation and communicating insights in ways that make complex information easy to understand, particularly for non-technical audiences. You will work with teams across the Home Office such as Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Business Analysts. You will be engaged with, and actively contribute to, the Data Analysis community.

Business Analyst Apprenticeship

As a Business Analyst Apprentice, you will be responsible for, and carry out, tasks to support the understanding and development of a product and/or service under direction and guidance from more senior Business Analysts.

As a Business Analyst Apprentice, you will start to gain the skills and experience and/or understanding in business analysis methods and techniques, utilise relevant tooling and deliver outputs to the required standard before progressing to undertake business analysis activities for which they are fully tasked and responsible.

Desirable criteria

  • Quality assurance, validation and data linkage abilities, such as understanding basic data issues, the concept of data being fit for purpose and the context of the data.
  • Level 3 Qualification

To be eligible for the apprenticeship:

You should be committed to spend 20% of your working time on learning activity.

The expectation is that apprentices are employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Need to ensure you meet Government requirement to complete an apprenticeship:

  • You must work at least 50% of the time in England.
  • Valid passport/birth certificate and NI number.
  • Not undertaking another apprenticeship or government funded qualification at the same time.

These roles are ideal for candidates who have ‘not studied to degree level and are looking to develop their knowledge and skills whilst in employment’.

Should have GCSE grade ‘C’ or above in Maths and English, or the equivalent, such as key skills or functional skills. If you do not or are unable to provide evidence of this (e.g., certificate), then you will be required to complete Level 2 functional skills during the apprenticeship programme with support.

You must not hold a qualification at or above Level 4 in a similar subject. You can hold a qualification in a related subject area at a lower level, e.g., Level 3 (or A-Level equivalent). You may also be ineligible if you have substantial experience in the role for which you are applying, as an apprenticeship must provide you with a significantly new skill set / skills uplift.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Experience.

As part of the application process, you will first be asked to confirm your eligibility by providing some basic personal information.

After submission of this first stage, you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Verbal and Numerical Tests.

If you successfully pass these tests, you will then be invited to complete the full application form.

Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the tests and full application form is 23:55 on 15th May 2023. If you fail to complete the online tests or full application before the deadline, your application will be withdrawn.

Following successful completion of the test, you will then be asked to complete:

If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview which will be a blended approach of strength-based questions and behaviour-based questions.

Other apprenticeships, requiring the same skills and experience, could be offered without a new competition.
