Job summary

The Unified Career Management (UCM) Team is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to apply to join a high-profile team as it expands. UCM is part of the Defence People Portfolio and aims to create an adaptable and sustainable workforce; maximising the use of a diverse talent pool in support of Defence outputs and providing offers that attract and retain talent.
The UK Strategic Command UCM Team delivers the key functions of career management; workforce planning; capability and policy to support UCM Cohorts. For the first time this means that personnel from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force who are within UCM Cohorts experience the same career management; career pathways and terms and conditions of Service. The first UCM Cohort launched in June 2021. Additional Cohorts are due to launch in 2023 which will bring a significant increase in the number of personnel supported under UCM. This job brings an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team delivering innovative solutions that have international attention and briefed at the highest levels.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The focus of the role is to provide administrative support and assist in the promotion process for UCM Personnel in accordance with UKStratCom UCM CM policies and UCM Workforce Planning priorities. The job holder may be required to carry out other duties within the scope of the grade and role, within limits of skill, competence and training as required.

Person specification

  • Provide administrative support to UCM Policy & Support in relation to the assurance of promotion and career processes for UCM CM.
  • Assist UCM Policy by conducting any UCM assurance activity or audits in accordance with UCM Assurance Policy to agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to plan, agree, schedule and deliver assurance activities, representing Assurance and UCM at relevant stakeholder events
  • Undertake any task and additional administrative duties required by UCM CM, which are reasonable for the grade and within the competence of the job holder as directed by the line management chain.
  • Undertake learning and development and upskilling as required.
