The team
The Leeds engineering maintenance team is made up of 3 electrical shift engineers, 2 maintenance handymen, 1 mechanical engineer, 1 trainee electrical engineer and a supervisor. It looks after all the facilities service & maintenance requirements for the 4 ITV Leeds sites to ensure all the operational requirements are completed and ITV are compliant with all statutory and non-statutory regulations. We also complete various small project works as and when requested by ITV stakeholders. We also look to identify opportunities to save energy across the portfolio and look to help ITV achieve its sustainability objectives.
The role
- Dealing with reactive and PPM work
- Also small/medium electrical/mechanical installation and project work
- Learn how buildings work covering all aspects of engineering. AC, electrical, HVAC, fire, water hygiene, plumbing, building fabric, mechanical etc.
- Energy reduction initiatives and opportunities.
- Learn how to supervise specialist subcontractors, ensuring documents are received from subcontractors, and RAMS are followed.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Ensure the highest possible service is being delivered to ITV Stakeholders.
- Equipment maintenance of Air Handling Units
- Testing of Emergency Lights
- Reactive repairs on lighting, general building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical items
- Water Hygiene tests
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and other internal departments.
- Contribute to developing a ‘one team’ approach
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels and deliver flawless customer service at all times
- Clearly communicate ideas, plans and priorities to others
- Contribute to reducing levels of customer complaints and drive continuous improvement
- Able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with subcontractors and other parties in support of end-to-end facilities management service delivery
- Handle complexity both in scope and number of issues. Tackles problems head on and works to resolve them without delay
- Scoring at least 9/10 through the multiple choice application questions
- Descriptive and an originality portrayed within the set application questions
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- A clear understanding & passion for the apprenticeship role you are applying for as well as ITV
- Have a willingness to learn new skills with the appropriate training
- Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude
- Good understanding of how to use technology in an office environment for example use of the Google suite, zoom
- You will be friendly and approachable, respectful to all of your ITV colleagues
- You’ll have the ability to maintain a positive attitude, even when under pressure and working to deadlines
Eligibility/Entry Criteria
As this is a Level 3 Apprenticeship, we require you to have/be predicted to achieve the below qualifications
GCSE Grades (or equivalent) C/4 or above in English and Maths plus 2 other subjects

Due to the nature of this apprenticeship, it would only suit applicants over 18 due to the types of work being undertaken throughout the programme.
- You have lived within the UK/EEA for a minimum of 3 years consecutively
- You meet the entry criteria for the apprenticeship as listed above
- You have not completed a degree/same level qualification in a similar subject to the role you are applying for
- You cannot have achieved the qualification already and you must not already be in full time education at the point of enrolment
