Job/Department Summary:

SSP II: Under general supervision from the Executive Director of Athletics, the incumbent is responsible for coordination and maintenance of the University's comprehensive athletic compliance programs to ensure institutional control in complying with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and University regulations, policies and procedures for a NCAA Division II athletic program.

SSP III: Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Athletics, the incumbent is relied upon to provide oversight, direction, and recommend solutions to sensitive and potentially critical issues. Incumbent is expected to independently resolve complex problems through use of highly developed communication skills and personal contact, often after researching information; the incumbent is responsible for coordination and maintenance of the University's comprehensive athletic compliance programs to ensure institutional control in complying with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and University regulations, policies and procedures for a NCAA Division II athletic program. Incumbent deals with complex, sensitive situations, uses sound professional judgment and successful counseling techniques to effectively interact with college-age students.

Preferences for both SSP II and SSP III:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:

  • Bilingual.
  • Experience in a NCAA intercollegiate athletic program.
  • Demonstrated experience using information management systems, such as PeopleSoft.
  • Demonstrated experience using athletic compliance management tools, such as ARMS, Compliance Assistant.
  • Fluent written and verbal multi-lingual/bilingual skills.

Required Education and Experience:

SSP II: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
AND
Two years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.

SSP III: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
AND
Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.

  • A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience for both. Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a Student Services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.

Time Base: Full-time


Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm.

CSU Classification Salary Ranges:

SSP II: $55,320 - $78,672 per year / SSP III: $60,300 - $85,908 per year

Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver's License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.

This position requires occasional evening and weekend time commitments.
