The City of San Clemente is looking for a qualified individual to serve as Senior Engineering Technician in the Development Section of the Public Works Department. This position will assist Engineering staff with engineering and development projects and provide support at the public counter; perform complex technical civil engineering functions within scope of authority and training in assigned area of responsibility; incumbents apply acquired knowledge and skills, and use personal judgment to make technical decisions within defined procedural limits, and with understanding of City policies and procedures; assist City staff, design professionals, and the general public with understanding and meeting the City requirements for the development process, from planning and concept through plan review and permitting.
This is the advanced journey level class in the Engineering Technician class. Positions at this level perform the more complex duties and responsibilities assigned to the class. Employees at this level are distinguished from other classes in the series in that they perform complex and advanced journey level technical engineering functions, under the direction of a professional engineer. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in the duties and responsibilities assigned to the class.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives general supervision from assigned higher level staff.
