To be eligible for consideration, you must first meet the Basic Education Requirement for this position, having a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines. You could otherwise meet this requirement with a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major as shown above plus appropriate experience or additional education.

To qualify at the GS-12, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service having demonstrated experience tracking National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) project compliance and hazardous materials storage and disposal; completing environmental compliance documentation for land and water projects and principal author of Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and subsequent Records of Decision (ROD) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI); preparing permit applications and consultations for biological assessments and environmental analysis; and developing and negotiating Memoranda of Agreements (MOAs) or Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) with adjacent Federal land administrators and for reimbursable accounts associated with NEPA compliance for land use or water contract requests.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
