Job Description

Salary: National up to £58,500 and London up to £65,000 per annum – Salary offered will be based on skills and experience
Are you interested in joining a team that will help shape and deliver the future of Cross-Cutting Policy and Strategy at the FCA?
We are recruiting for two Policy Executive Assistants to support the co-Directors in the Cross-Cutting Policy and Strategy Directorate (CCPS) on policy and operational matters. These roles will provide a unique insight into the leadership of CCPS at a senior level, and exposure to a broad range of policy, operational and strategic issues.
One of the roles is permanent with the other initially being offered on an interim basis with a strong possibility of this becoming a permanent role.
CCPS sits within the Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) Division of the FCA and is at the heart of the FCA’s policy-making approach: leading key cross-cutting policy, strategy and consumer research and engagement work at pace, and delivering not only through our own teams but by working with teams across the FCA. With responsibility for leading or coordinating policy, strategy and insights across SPC and the wider FCA, it is central to the success of SPC’s operating model.
Through our work, we ensure the FCA has a consistent, coherent, agile approach to policy-making, that delivers the intended outcomes of our strategic priorities in the most efficient and impactful way.
CCPS leads on or is engaged with many of the FCA’s Strategic Commitments, in particular preparing financial services for the future through the Future Regulatory Framework programme, putting consumers needs first and enabling consumers to help themselves through the Consumer Duty and Cost of Living workstreams and our research functions, improving the redress framework and reducing harm from firm failure, including collaboration with the Regulatory Family. CCPS is also responsible for ensuring the effective coordination, prioritisation and delivery of FCA policy through the policy profession and prioritisation.
What you will be doing
  • Providing support and advice to Greg Sachrajda and Nisha Arora (CCPS co-Directors) and the wider CCPS Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on a range of management, strategic, business, and regulatory issues
  • Providing assistance and support to the rest of CCPS on management issues and in relation to dealings with the Director and leadership team, and ensuring the effective flow of information between the Directors and teams in the Directorate and with other areas of the FCA
  • Driving forward and coordinating policy work on the Directors’ top priorities, liaising with relevant teams across CCPS, SPC and the FCA to ensure effective delivery
  • Ensuring the Directors’ offices run efficiently, including providing support and direction to the Directors’ PA
  • Supporting the Directors in preparing for external events and stakeholder engagements, including writing speeches and briefings
  • Working closely with other Directors’ and Executive Directors’ offices across the building
  • Assisting the CCPS leadership team and management team on a daily basis by managing their collective priorities and ensuring actions are carried out
  • One of the postholders will manage the Director PA
What will you get from the role?
Our competitive flexible benefits scheme gives you the opportunity to create a personalised benefits package, tailored to suit your lifecycle. You can use this allowance to purchase additional benefits such as dental or cycle to work or you have the option top up your base salary by taking this as cash.
Core benefits that you will receive as standard are:
  • 25 days holiday per year
  • Private healthcare with Bupa
  • A non-contributory Pension of at least 8% of your basic salary each month (there are several contribution levels that increase depending on your age – up to 12% a month once you reach the age of 35)
  • Life assurance of eight times your basic salary
  • Income protection
  • We support hybrid working which means you will be able to work from home up to 60% of the time over a month with the remainder of your time in one of our three office locations
The post holders have the opportunity to gain insight into the leadership and issues involved in a wide range of policy work across the FCA and build a strong network and profile with senior leaders and teams across CCPS and the FCA more widely, engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Each post holder will enjoy a varied portfolio, providing support to the Directors and senior leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the Directors’ offices and the Directorate, as well as driving forward and coordinating policy work on the respective Director’s top priorities. This is an excellent opportunity to undertake a high-profile, fast-paced, challenging, and varied role, at a critical time!
The skills and experience you’ll have
