Job Description

Job title: Assistant Shop Manager
Contract: 12 week fixed term contract, part time – 14 hours/2 days per week
Salary: £19,838 FTE (£7,935 pro rata equivalent) per annum
Location: Yardley, B25 8UJ

Blue Cross is one of the UK’s leading animal welfare organisations. We have over 50 charity shops throughout England and Wales.

Our generous supporters donate a mixture of clothes, books, toys, household goods and soft furnishings that we sell in our shops and online. All the money raised goes towards enabling Blue Cross to support sick, injured, and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes.

More about the role

We have a fantastic shop in Yardley; it’s well supported with plenty to do!

You will be working closely with the Shop Manager in the day-to-day management of the shop; generating donations; display and merchandising; managing stock deliveries and collections; record keeping and cash handling.
An important part of your role will be recruiting, training, motivating, managing, and supporting a loyal and committed team of volunteers.
You will enjoy the freedom of working with the Shop Manager to set the direction of your shop at a local level. So being bored is not an option!

If you want to work in a role that makes a positive difference every day to the pets in our care then look no further. We are proud of our charity which has been working tirelessly since 1897 to help pets and invite you to join our team of dedicated people and continue to make history for many years to come.

This is a fixed term contract for 12 weeks and you will be working 14 hours per week over two days on a rota including weekends and bank holidays. In addition, you will be required to work additional hours to cover for the Shop Manager and therefore flexibility is essential.

If you excel in an environment where you can see the difference you make every day then this is the role for you. Interested? Then apply and let’s work together to see if this is the role for you.
