Resistant Material (RM) is an independent design office based in London & New York producing artful, multi-disciplinary, culture-driven projects for a curated selection of brands and individuals.
RM is seeking a driven, dedicated, and enthusiastic designer with a core grounding in graphic design such as branding, visual identity systems, album art, digital & social but also ability and skill ranging across print & textiles, conceptual thinking, event and physical ideation and an eye for still and moving image.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and showcase an ability to adapt & grow with our business. The ideal candidate should have a deep knowledge of visual and cultural references and a keen interest in fashion, music, and culture; demonstrating high taste and strong conceptual vision. We are looking for a passionate designer who has experience with leading and inspiring a team.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to follow directions effectively, and demonstrate exceptional time-management skills whilst also showing critical thinking and thoughtful, purposeful decision making. The candidate will be given the opportunity to work with leading figures in the fashion, music, and product industries.
A positive attitude to the work, a collaborative and communicative energy in the office and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement are essential prerequisites for the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading design team on current & ongoing projects
- Client management & communications
- Deadline scheduling, coordinating with the team to ensure project deliverables are met fully and to a standard prescribed by RM.
- Offering mentorship to junior team members and designers to build a cohesive workplace.
- Creation of graphics for proposals and targeted outreach projects.
- Curation of potential new clients via outreach.
- Demonstrate the capacity to contribute original ideas and unique vision, offering a fresh and innovative perspective.
Key Skills and Qualities:
- Proficiency (5 years+) in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign
- Hardworking and detail-oriented.
- High taste level and comprehensive references of culturally relevant fashion & music.
- Relevant professional experience as a designer in a similar role.
- Demonstrates efficiency and proactiveness in work approach.
- Highly flexible and confident leading in a team setting.
