Job Description
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to join our small, hard-working production team. The contract starts as temporary with a view to making it permanent on the successful completion of a 6 month probation period.
Shortbread House is a family-run bakery in the heart of Edinburgh. We supply a range of luxury shortbread to the online, retail and catering markets in the UK and abroad. Shortbread House emphasises quality over quantity, the company has won more Great Taste Awards than any other Scottish shortbread bakery.
For the most part the job would involve:
- Measuring and mixing ingredients
- Rolling, shaping and cutting the dough by hand to form biscuits
- Product observation at each stage of the process to check the quality
- Cleaning of work area, utensils and equipment
The contract is for 39 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. Voluntary overtime can be on offer and this is paid at time and a half rates.
We are looking for someone who:
- Can concentrate and work quickly and efficiently on repetitive jobs
- Will focus on high standards and ensure the product is always of the quality we expect
- Can work effectively under pressure
- Has the ability to encourage and motivate other staff members
- Has a positive attitude to fit in with our existing team
- Can be flexible with working hours to account for busy and quiet times
- Is honest and trustworthy
