Main Purpose
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Engineers at the 422 Civil
Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force Croughton, United Kingdom.
This position will perform environmental program management duties to assist in the compliance with the United Kingdom
- Final Governing Environmental Standards (UK-FGS), USAFE Standards of Environmental Excellence requirements and
other policies and regulations. The primary function will be to provide day-to-day operations and management of the
Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), Hazardous Waste (HW), Petroleum-Oils & Lubricants (POL) and Environmental
Management Systems (EMS) programs for the 422 ABG installations and geographically separated units. In addition, this
position will support the Environmental Element Chief with other program management as required.
Responsible for executing assigned projects, in-house and by contract, to comply with all applicable Federal, state, and local
environmental laws and policies. Coordinates curricula and training for assigned program areas at the installation. Maintain
and updates associated electronic databases for programs management, while providing extensive environmental expertise to
support assigned environmental projects through application of professional knowledge and skill in environmental
engineering practices and processes.

Knowledge and Experience Required
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
1. Knowledge of US Air Force environmental engineering principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively perform project development, execution, training, and advisory services in assigned projects.
2. Knowledge to troubleshoot environmental engineering problems requiring investigation of unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned projects (see Environmental Program Checklist).
3. Knowledge of applicable UK, UK FGS, Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and other guidance to make decisions and recommendations concerning assigned restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention, and/or integration principles and practices.
4. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy
Other Important Information
- Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
- Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential.
- A 6–12-month probationary period will be required.
- Overtime may be required.
- May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary train.
Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:
l. Work may require occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
2. Applicant must possess a degree or, NVQ/SVQ Level 5 or, HNC/HND in the relevant field and be able to demonstrate specialized engineering work experience.
3. The work will require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid CAT B driver’s license is required for the position.
4. Will be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency or spill. May be called in after hours to respond to spill or environmental incident.
5. Will be required to obtain job-related certifications such as HAZWOPER, DOT, HAZWASTE, and/or RPM.
6. Special safety precautions such as protective clothing and gear are necessary.
