About us


The Vale Youth Service is committed to ensuring that young people are involved in all aspects of its service delivery. Working as part of the universal team, we are looking to recruit a participation worker that can support the development of our participation offer.

The Vale Youth Service provides informal and non-formal opportunities to young people aged 11-25 across the Vale of Glamorgan to support them in achieving their full potential. We provide safe environments for young people to enjoy themselves and meet others; feel valued; access information and support; and learn new skills.


About the role


Pay Details: JNC Pt 12 £26,576 per annum

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, working 2-3 evenings a week (a maximum of 4 evenings a week) occasional weekend and overnight residentials.

Main Place of Work: Office base at Civic Offices Barry, with travel across various locations in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Temporary Reason: Grant Funding

Description:

You will support the development of our new Vale Youth Council, ensuring that all young people from across the Vale of Glamorgan can have their voices heard in council matters, providing communication links between young people organisations, and decision makers in the Vale of Glamorgan. You will also support the delivery of other participation projects that are facilitated by the Vale Youth Service.


About you


You will need:

  • Experience in face-to-face youth work in a variety of settings.
  • Experience of consultation tools and techniques.
  • Experience of supporting young people to have their voices heard or advocating on behalf of young people to stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations.
  • Knowledge of the National Participation Standards and the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child).
  • EWC registered as Youth Support Worker or Youth Worker.

DBS Check Required: Enhanced Adult and Child

It is a statutory requirement that applicants for these posts have to be registered as a Youth Work Professional with the Education Workforce Council before they can start work with the Youth Service.
