We are delighted to be offering a full-time Band 7 Clinical Psychology development post within the Community Acquired Brain Injury Service (CABIS).
CABIS provides community based neurorehabilitation for people 16 years and over following an acquired brain injury (ABI).
CABIS is well-established in Sunderland and Gateshead locality and now are expanding into South Tyneside. This exciting opportunity will offer the successful candidate to be part of developing the new community neuro-rehabilitation service, as well as supporting service provision in Sunderland and Gateshead.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be required to provide neuropsychological assessment and specialist interventions for patients and their carers, with a range of complex clinical needs as a result of an ABI and head injuries.
The post holder will also be expected to provide advice and support to other teams in CNTW, as well as local acute and community services.
CABIS is a busy, dynamic, and enthusiastic team who pride themselves on providing accessible, goal led neurorehabilitation for service users and their families. We routinely work closely with other organisations to support service users in their recovery.
The successful candidate will work across Sunderland, Gateshead and South Tyneside localities in a range of community settings.
The post holders will be fully supported to enable them to progress to Band 8a within 2 years of having been in a Band 7 role. This will require successful completion of a mutually agreed development plan, demonstration of the experience, skills, knowledge and competencies required and confirmation of their suitability to progress by an assessment panel.
If the requirements are not fully achieved within 2 years the post holder will remain as a Band 7 and this outcome will be managed as part of the contract conditions agreed with the post holder at the outset
These post involves providing expertise in applying specialist cognitive and psychological assessment, collaborative formulation and interventions with service users and carers. The post holder will be working with multi-disciplinary colleagues in neurorehabilitation focusing on neuropsychological formulation in a trauma informed service. This includes individual and group based work and involvement of families and carers. It will involve supporting multidisciplinary staff working with service users through supervision, team formulation, contributing to understanding complex risk, developing behaviour support plans and providing reflective practice sessions and training to others. The role may also involve research, service evaluation and audit. There will be opportunity to gain experience of supervising others within the MDT and psychology.

Post holders will be part of a supportive neuropsychology team and MDT which provide neuropsychological services to community based neuro rehabilitation working in close collaboration with other services according to service user need.
