What you'll be doing
The Apprentice role sits within the multi-disciplinary Environment and Sustainability Team. The M25 DBFO, despite being one of the busiest motorways in Europe, comprises a huge, connected area of primarily wild verge habitat which provides valuable habitat for a wide range of biodiversity.
We can play a vital role by ensuring that the impact of our operations and schemes on the environment. Capturing GIS data on environmental constraints onto our systems for use in environmental impact assessments
What you’ll do:
Environmental Activities:
- Undertake Simple Environmental assessments.
- Undertake Environmental Site & Depot Audits.
- Collate scheme As built data for CPS GIS database.
- Assist network air quality monitoring.
- Work with the team to record outputs from surveys.
- To undertake other Environmental Team tasks as required
GIS Activities:
- Quarterly environmental GIS data updates to National Highways
- To update and maintain the Environmental Asset Database (GIS) with survey findings, e.g. record both proposed and completed works.
- Map production of environmental schemes, such as biodiversity improvements
- Environmental Mapping – e.g. vulnerable sites, flooding hotspots, litter/fly tipping
Who we're looking for
Who we’re looking for
- You will have 3 A-levels A-C or equivalent Level 3 qualification You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s 9-4 including Maths & English or equivalent coupled with an interest in sustainability
- You will have a keen interest in construction and infrastructure and a good attention to detail.
- You will have a have a friendly, flexible approach to your working day and a willingness to work with and support colleagues
- You will have an enthusiastic, engaged attitude and eagerness to learn and develop personally and professionally
- Ideally hold a UK driver’s licence (or be working towards)
