About the role

Services within the family hub network are accessible in several ways, (for example, virtual, physical, via outreach services and community venues) and there is an active emphasis on openness, welcome, and whole family working. The family hubs welcome all types of families.

Based in Mapledean Family Centre Plus, the Family Hub Support Worker will work directly with children, young people and their families, greeting visitors, responding appropriately to presenting needs and supporting the effective transition between universal and targeted services.

You will provide support for Family Support Service colleagues and professionals to support the day to day running of centre activities Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.

About you

This role is about working in centres to be able to meet and greet parents and families for advice or information, run universal sessions with themes identified through working with the community and liaise with and support professionals to provide a holistic service to families specific to their presenting need. You will be organized and pro-active to ensure the Hub runs efficiently and provide a welcoming face for Parents, families and professionals alike.

You should have experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and families in public, private or voluntary sector (such as Childcare, Health, Social Care, Youth Justice, Education, Youth Work or other relevant field) as well as a proven ability to work with partners from these services.

About the Business Unit

The Family Support Service (FSS) is part of Buckinghamshire Council’s Early Help offer and is a consent-based service that provides amongst other things, targeted support to families with children aged 0-19 (up to 25 for children with special education needs or disabilities).

The Family Support Service promotes the early identification of emerging issues and works with the whole family and in partnership with other professionals to effect positive change and improve outcomes for children and young people.

Early help is provided through a range of different services: universal which are open to all, targeted provision, and specialist services. The support is timely, flexible and focussed on working collaboratively with families to overcome the issues they face, build their resilience and leave them better able to manage future challenges.
