Cygnet Healthcare is looking for support workers to join our team working at Marion House. If you have previously worked or are currently working as a care assistant, healthcare assistant, or support worker looking for a new opportunity or your first role within Social Care to help support residents with all aspects of their everyday life within a care home setting as part of the NHS partnership.
Marion House is a specialist 5-bed residential service for adults with autism and moderate to severe learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and effective environment, promoting independence and community integration. Person-centred planning is at the heart of everything we do, based on each person’s specific needs Marion House is based in Borrowash which is around a 10-15 minute drive from Derby City Centre with good links via local bus services.

Your role as a Support Worker at Marion House:
- Working from 07:45am till 08:00pm
- Working regular shift patterns (Week 1 Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun : Week 2 Weds, Thurs, Fri)
- 42 hours per week
- Key Duties – Promoting the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support
- Supporting with activities and daily living and allowing the individuals we support to remain as independent as possible.
- Supporting with all aspects of personal care in a dignified manner
- Being able to remain calm in challenging situations
- The ability to make a difference to the lives of the individuals we support
What you will need:
- Previous experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour.
- Preferably hold a full clean UK driving license (although this is not essential for this role)
- A can-do attitude and the ability to work well within a friendly staff team.
- Knowledge of non-verbal communication techniques such as Makaton would be advantageous, however training on this will be provided.
