Whilst DCMS is advertising this vacancy, the successful candidate(s) may ultimately be appointed to the newly created Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).

The Public Bodies team is recruiting for one post to support its work with DCMS ALBs. The Public Bodies Coordinator will assist the team in its work leading the development of the sponsorship specialism in DCMS, and delivering cross-cutting engagement with Public Bodies.

The team is looking for a self-starter who is able to work autonomously and support the strategic development of the team through their workstreams. The post requires good written and spoken communication skills and the ability to work confidently with people at all levels. Candidates must be willing to work flexibly across team priorities as needed.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain an overview of the work of DCMS Public Bodies and their senior management teams, to work collaboratively across Whitehall and to shape how DCMS works with Public Bodies.

Job description

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of cross-cutting engagement forums between DCMS and Public Bodies.
  • Maintaining the sponsor network across DCMS, ensuring regular meetings and a good forward look of agendas.
  • Supporting the delivery of the sponsor Learning & Development programme.
  • To lead on the general administration and information management of the Sponsorship and Engagement team, and ensure the team has up to date, robust data on Public Bodies for sharing with CO, HMT and senior leaders as required.
  • To work flexibly, as required, within the Public Bodies team and wider Public Bodies, Appointments, Honours and Awards team.

  • The successful candidate must be organised and able to manage their own workload;
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Work flexibly across a busy team to achieve goals in a collaborative manner to meet deadlines; and
  • Ability to deliver high quality work at pace, and balance a range of competing priorities.

  • Experience of working in customer facing roles;
  • Experience of planning and delivering projects;
  • Experience of working under pressure;
  • Experience of stakeholder management.
