Rail & Civil Engineering

An exciting opportunity for a Commercial Assistant to support the commercial administration of the Civils Asset Management Framework by providing assistance to the team of dedicated, framework Quantity Surveyors.
Business Unit
A busy and fast paced project environment involving in a range of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, working for a varied range of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail, Environmental and private developers
Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as:
Roads, bridges, footbridges, tunnels, underbridges, flood alleviation / repairs, embankments and rail platforms etc. We currently have a number of live infrastructure projects and long term renewals and maintenance frameworks underway including Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF) and a slab track framework.
The Role
As a Commercial Assistant you will form an integral part of our expert commercial team in the Scotland Region. You will work closely with the Quantity Surveyors, Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Management team providing commercial and administrative assistance. This is not a dead end role either and we will look to provide opportunities for further education where we will encourage and support you in gaining a commercial / quantity surveying qualification. Day to day as a Commercial Assistant, your duties will comprise of:

Sub-Contractor – Payments, Procurement, Liabilities for CVR

Weekly Reports - Job Tracker
-
Create & Process order requests
-
Compilation of final account packs for Network Rail
-
Obtaining signed completion certificates and chasing information from internal staff

Distribution of completed SI's for estimating
-
Various CVR data manipulation exercises
-
Distribution of Technical Query forms to client and dealing with responses
-
Gathering Final Account Information
-
Organising Final Account Information to be signed off set to Network Rail to be paid

Issuing Site Inspections to the relevant QS to be estimated
-
Submitting estimates on to Monitor for Network Rail’s approval

Ensuring all Completion Paperwork & Estimates are filed
Requirements
We are looking for an ambitious, well-organised and pro-active candidate who is looking to forge a career in Quantity Surveying. To excel in this role, you will hold excellent communication and IT skills with a keen eye for detail. In order to go onto gain additional qualifications in Quantity Surveying, you will need to have a minimum of A Level education for university entry.
