To be based in the our Cardiff Manchester office, we are recruiting a candidate who excels in Streets and Public Realm Design for our Transport Planning business. Atkins are the Framework Consultants for Cardiff Council Lancashire County Council, and Transport for Wales Greater Manchester and Sefton District Council. We also undertake design for Stockport, Tameside and Bury District Councils as well as other authorities across the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland., City and County of Swansea, Pembrokeshire County Council, Carmarthenshire County Council, Carmarthenshire County Council, and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, meaning that you will have the opportunity to influence your local area. Within the wider business we also contribute to projects at a national scale for many other local and national government bodies and the private sector.
Your purpose:
Collaborating with specialists from across our business as part of multi-disciplinary teams, you’ll work on flagship regeneration, site expansion and development projects. Making the most of your transport planning knowledge and understanding, you’ll create streetscapes, deliver active travel and public transport projects, secure development planning approvals and deliver sustainable accessible developments.

Excellent communication with strong report writing capability.

Adapting to challenges and proven success in meeting deadlines.

Confident team worker with ability to work without supervision.

Experience of working to time and budget constraints.

Experience in leading the design and delivery and implementation of urban highway, transport and public realm schemes.

Delivery of work in line with DMRB, MfS and current active travel design guidance.

Understanding of Designer Health and Safety / CDM requirements.

Experience of 2D design using AutoCAD Civil 3D is desirable but not essential.

Experience in the coordination of enquiries and diversionary work with statutory undertakers’ companies.
