Your New Role
In this role you will draw, and construct sets of precision master fabric patterns or layouts and may also mark and cut fabrics and apparel. Garment and Pattern Designer contributes ideas for improvement into the garment design process in line with customer feedback and evolving trends.
What You Can Expect from the Role
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Creating master patterns for each size within a range of garment sizes using charts, drafting instruments, computers or grading devices

Ensuring patterns include all notation to ensure they are accurately followed by production colleagues (including joins, positions of pleats, pockets, buttonholes and other features).
- Adapting or draws new patterns as needed

Effectively translating design specifications and original models of garments into the separate pattern pieces needed for each garment and determines the best layout of pattern pieces to minimise material waste

Computing dimensions of patterns according to sizes, considering stretching of material

Producing master or sample patterns using appropriate equipment. Marks samples and finished patterns with information, such as garment size, section, style, identification and sewing instructions

Creating design specifications that provide instructions on garment sewing and assembly

Tests patterns by making and fitting sample garments, adjusting patterns as needed after fittings

Exanimating sketches, sample articles, and design specifications to determine quantities, shapes, and sizes of pattern parts and to determine the amount of material or fabric required to make a product

Performing a range of site maintenance activities, troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and systems for emergency repairs. Carries out preventive maintenance inspections

Providing help to install complex systems and conducts inspections of that equipment with guidance

Following Survitec HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions, identifying and mitigating risks to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of self and others

Conducting complex analysis, quality tests and inspections requiring a high level of independent judgment
The Experience, Qualifications and Skills You Will Have
Essential Criteria:
- Educated to Secondary School level, with 5 GCSEs

1 – 3 years of relevant experience with the ability to work unsupervised

Illustrator or equivalent
- 6 months experience of supervising and holding others to operating standard is an advantage
