Description of Department:
Corporate Communications is at the core of the City of London Police. The department includes internal communications, digital communications and the press office, and works to support the force’s responsibilities locally within the Square Mile, and nationally in relation to economic and cyber crime and Project Servator.
Purpose of the Role:
To work with the communications team to deliver a media liaison and communication service; both proactively and reactively. To provide a variety of crime prevention and awareness messages and campaigns, supporting investigations and delivering internal communication and public relations activity as required that promotes the force’s priorities

Skills
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to enable the post holder to deal with people at all levels, both in and outside the organisation.
Good planning and organising skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast moving environment.
Excellent written communication skills to enable the post holder to draft media releases, write internal and external articles and prepare clear and concise briefing documents.
Comfortable using digital technology, including adding articles to the internet and intranet as required, with experience of using social media.
Knowledge and experience
Experience of working in a busy, high-profile press office and managing media engagement for national, regional and b2b issues is essential
Sound knowledge and understanding of media standard-operating procedures, legal framework and communication guidance and protocols is desirable.
Types of Qualification(s) needed:
Educated to degree level or experience in a similar role for a minimum of two years
Desirable Criteria (If applicable):
Experience of internal communication.
