Job Overview
To support the welfare of children and adults at risk helping to ensure a safe and positive environment for all by maintaining a vigilant and proactive approach to safeguarding.
Principal Accountabilities
- Assist stadium safety in responding to incidents where there is a concern for the welfare of a child or adult at risk, including visitors and young workers.
- Attend match day stadium safety briefings, retaining and applying the knowledge and information specific to match day.
- Maintain a vigilant and proactive approach to safeguarding throughout the durations of the match day operation.
- Support the culture and awareness of match day safeguarding within the club and build key relationships with match day stakeholders.
- Be the main point of contact for staff and visitors regarding safeguarding matters and respond to these in a time effective manner.
- Record all concerns on the Club digital case management system demonstrating a high standard of case recording.
- Contribute to frequent team meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Observe strict confidentiality in all safeguarding matters.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to manage and handle difficult and or sensitive issues.The nature of match day safeguarding means we are called on to handle sensitive situations ranging from separated children and support for young workers.
- A confident and clear verbal communicator with attention to detail and accurate case recording skills.
- Willingness to learn, update skills and knowledge.
- Knowledge of and positive attitudes to equal opportunities and ability to challenge discrimination.
- Child centred approach recognising the voice of the child, involving and empowering them.
- Understanding of adults at risk and their needs.Ensuring personalised care is recognised.
- Approachable and empathetic with customer facing skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues and safeguarding legislation.
- Transferable skills to be able to adapt to the requirements of concerns of varying nature.
- Ability to demonstrate non-judgmental approach when dealing incidents.
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to support in resolving and de-escalating situations in a professional and controlled manner.
- Active listening skills with the ability to analyse and assess information often in a busy and loud setting.
Experience
- Must have demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding in a range of settings and across diverse communities.
- Experience of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
- Previous experience of working with children and adults at risks within demanding and busy environments
