Job Description
As an In-House Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance to our company. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our operations comply with applicable laws and regulations, managing legal risks, and protecting the company's interests. This is a key position that requires expertise in contract law and knowledge of data protection laws.
Responsibilities:
Contract Drafting and Review:
Prepare, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including supplier agreements, distribution agreements, employment contracts, and licensing agreements.
Ensure contracts accurately reflect the company's interests, protect its rights, and minimize legal risks.
Advise stakeholders on contractual rights and obligations.
Legal Compliance:
Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly in the areas of data protection and privacy laws.
Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure the company's operations adhere to legal requirements.
Conduct internal audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
Data Protection:
Provide guidance and support on data protection laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable national data protection laws.
Review and update the company's data protection policies, procedures, and privacy notices.
Advise on data transfer agreements and ensure compliance with cross-border data transfer requirements.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and propose strategies to mitigate them.
Advise on potential legal disputes, litigation, and legal claims.
Collaborate with external legal counsel, as necessary, on complex legal matters.
Legal Research and Advice:
Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues affecting the company.
Provide clear and practical legal advice to management and other stakeholders.
Communicate legal matters effectively, translating complex legal concepts into understandable terms.
Training and Education:
Conduct training sessions for employees on legal matters, compliance, and best practices.
Create and maintain a repository of legal resources and templates for internal use.
Qualifications:
LLB Degree: Possess a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution. Admittance to the Bar Association is desirable.
Contract Law Expertise: Strong understanding of contract law principles and experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various types of contracts.
Data Protection Knowledge: Familiarity with data protection laws, such as GDPR and relevant national data protection laws. Experience in implementing data protection compliance programs is advantageous.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex legal issues, identify potential risks, and provide practical solutions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing legal documents and contracts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders.
Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, meet deadlines, and handle a high volume of legal matters.
Ethical Conduct: Uphold the highest ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive legal matters.
Experience: Prior experience working as an in-house lawyer or in a law firm.
