Job overview

IAPT Mental Health Practitioner

Wellbeing is an IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service, providing interventions to those presenting with common mental health problems of anxiety and depression.

Our team of Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs) support the service by triaging and assessing some of the people that refer into our service, ensuring that we get people to the right place as quickly as possible. This includes liaising with various teams and mental health professionals across the Trust.

The role would suit someone with a core mental health profession and significant experience of working in mental health settings. Experience of working within IAPT services is not essential. Ongoing training is provided, as well as robust clinical supervision.

If you are interested in becoming a Psychological Therapist in the future, this role provides an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of an IAPT service.

Wellbeing is an 8-8 service which offers flexible working.

Main duties of the job

We are a busy service that invites both professional and self-referrals, and the role of the MHP includes triaging referrals coming into the service in a timely manner.

The team offers specialist screening and assessment, offering advice and signposting to other agencies as required, to ensure that our service users have a positive experience of the service from the time they refer in, whether or not they go on to have further treatment with us. The role includes liaising with other Trust teams, demonstrating skills in relationship building and clinical discussions, and supporting other IAPT clinicians with risk assessment and management when required.

Working for our organisation

The team are working in a hybrid way, with some office based and some remote working. The MHP role could be delivered remotely for applicants from outside of Norfolk. (*Please note remote working is not possible for Trainee Psychological Therapists).

The ability to work autonomously and independently is required, but with Microsoft Teams we are able to seek support from each other as required. Most of our clinical meetings within the service and across the Trust take place via Microsoft Teams.

Client appointments are offered face to face, and via video or telephone.

Therefore, it will be your responsibility, if successful, to ensure that this is taken to the appointing officer as soon as you receive it.

Alternatively, if you have subscribed to the update service, we will be able to check your status once we have your authority to do so.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.
