In addition to driving, your duties include:
- Preparing the vehicle by conducting operator checks and daily electronic defect reporting
- Planning delivery schedules and routes with the Transport Planners
- Supervising or helping to load and unload goods
- Making sure loads are safely secured
- Transport waste and aggregate to our internal and external customers
- Following traffic reports and changing your route if necessary
- Completing daily electronic delivery tickets via your PDA / Printer
- Daily vehicle checks such as oil, tyres and brake checks before and throughout the day
- Excellent driving skills
- The ability to work alone and concentrate for long periods
- A good understanding of Driver's Hours and regulations
- A polite and professional manner
- A good understanding of safety, on the road and when loading and unloading
- The ability to complete record sheets and paperwork accurately
- A reasonable level of fitness
- Be trustworthy and reliable
- Previous experience is preferred, although we will offer training for the right candidates
- Good safety practices and driving habits
- Full and clean driving licence
- Strong geographical knowledge of London and surrounding areas
