Band 2 Nursing Assistant – Sobell House Ward, Oxford

We are looking to recruit a Band 2 Nursing Assistant for Sobell House inpatient ward based at the Churchill Hospital. Sobell House is run in partnership with Oxford University Hospitals Trust and Sobell House Hospice Charity. Sobell House Hospice is specially designed to provide care and support for patients with advanced incurable disease, along with supporting their families. We provide specialist palliative and end-of-life care aiming to focus on quality of life and respecting the uniqueness of each person.

We are seeking applicants with strong values, who are motivated, dynamic and organised, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This role requires an enthusiastic, committed and professional approach to the smooth delivery of safe, high quality nursing care, ensuring the best patient and family experience. Candidates should be excellent team-players with the ability to use their own judgement to resolve issues. They should also have well developed communication skills and a sensitive approach to dealing with difficult and upsetting situations. They should be able to work well under pressure with a flexible approach to work, and a willingness to suggest ideas for improvements. Candidates will be able to demonstrate compassion, commitment and competence to deliver high standards of care. This will be assessed through a technical and Values Based Interview.

The role is supervised by registered nurses and clearly linked to competencies that require completion within a pre-arranged time frame. Full induction and training will be provided. Training on the electronic patient record will be given but a basic level of computer skill is required. The successful candidates will be expected to complete the Care Certificate within the first few months if you don’t already have this qualification.
