Job Description
We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic Band 7 clinical psychologists to work within Mental Health Services for Older People at North Tyneside General Hospital.
The post-holder would work alongside a supportive and cohesive multidisciplinary teams including nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers. The post would include working with older adults with functional and organic presentations an include therapy and neuropsychological assessment. The post will include opportunities for development under supervision of more senior psychologists.
The post-holder would be part of the clinical psychology provision within MHSOP in North Tyneside. They would be part of an expanding MHSOP psychology service and work closely with other professionals. They would provide psychological / neuropsychological assessment, formulation and therapy for older people with mental health difficulties. The post holder would also be expected to provide advice to colleagues and carers, on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment.
The two new B7 posts would be split between inpatient and community parts of the service, allowing broad development opportunities within MHSOP. The post holder will work as a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing high quality individualised care.
Where appropriate the post-holder will provide clinical supervision to less experienced staff, in accordance with service needs.
The post-holder will utilise research skills for clinical audit, and to inform service development.

- To provide high quality, effective applied psychology services to the Health Psychology services.
- To provide effective psychological assessment and interventions to the patients of the service.
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for clinical governance of own work according to trust policies.
- To undertake R&D activities for audit, policy and service development in conjunction with service leads.
- Supervises and supports the clinical activities of assistants and trainees in CHP.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
