Job Description

At JD, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for Graduates who are passionate about driving the objectives and strategy for our colleagues to have the best possible experiences across our Head Offices, Retail Stores and Distribution centres.

The 2-year rotational graduate programme will commence in September 2023 and provide the successful candidates with exposure and in-depth involvement in our 6 key areas across our People (HR) function – People Talent, People Development, People Experience, People Operations, People Reward, and People Relations.

KEY DETAILS & PERKS OF THE PROGRAMME:

  • Hours – Monday – Friday 40 hours

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

On the People Graduate Programme you will be rotating across the 6 key areas below that form our People function:

People (HR) Talent

Our People Talent function is made up of our Early Careers & Apprenticeships team as well as our Talent Acquisition team. Early Careers & Apprenticeships focus on creating and implementing initiatives and programmes to build our future talent. Our Talent Acquisition team is focussed on attracting the best talent to the organisation.

In this rotation you will have the opportunity to learn the beginning to end recruitment process that focuses on removing barriers for our candidates and promoting inclusivity and diversity across all our initiatives, specifically those targeted at Early Careers and Apprenticeships.

People Development

Helping to continuously improve the learning culture that drives engagement in ongoing professional development.

In this rotation, graduates will be an integral part of implementing the full learning cycle, supporting the team with elements from design, delivery, evaluation, and analytics.

People Experience

A team focused on creating the best experience for colleagues across JD Group. Specialising in initiatives around Engagement, Communication, Wellbeing and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), the team spearhead new opportunities – whilst building on existing ones – to improve the working environment and ensure colleagues are valued, respected, and able to bring their whole selves to work.

In this rotation you will have the opportunity to rotate between the four key areas, and work alongside subject matter experts when activating campaigns, developing policies, and analysing the feedback we receive from all of our colleagues.

People Operations

Our People Operations function is made up of Operations, Change and DC Time and Attendance. We are responsible for facilitating and maintaining the movement of people across the group utilising our HRIS platform. In this rotation you will have the opportunity to learn how People Operations supports the lifecycle of our colleagues from end to end with our focus being a seamless service. In addition, you will gain an insight into how we conduct right to work checks, referencing, security, access and configuration of our HRIS system, ID cards and discount and contracts of employment.

People Relations

Our People Relations function is made up of an advisory service for colleagues and managers, mitigating colleague related risks and aligning policy and procedures with our Company values, together with supporting people practices to develop and maintain positive working relationships within the Group.

In this rotation you will have the opportunity to learn how to imbed best practice in line with employment legislation and Company policy. You will support the team with a wide variety of activities including, arranging capability, conduct and absence management meetings along with advising and supporting on family friendly policies.

People Reward

People Reward is involved in supporting the strategies that ensure colleagues are rewarded in line with the organisational context and culture, through both pay and benefits. The Reward team have the responsibility of ensuring the accurate processing of payroll and benefits for all our colleagues across all facias in the UK, Channel Islands and the Republic of Ireland. The team is split into two very defined areas, one focusing on benefit reward and one focusing on Payroll reward.

In your rotation with the People Reward team you will focus on the Payroll element and how it links so intrinsically to both the People Operations team and People Relations team. You will assist the payroll team with processing payrolls and support the wider business through query resolution on our ticketing system. You will get the opportunity to look at a project between People Operations and People Reward that encompasses both areas and enhances our ability to serve our colleagues to a higher standard.
