Grade: Band 6

Ward/Dept: Pharmacy - Clinical

Trust: Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, OX3 7LD

Hours: Full-Time – 09:00-17:00, Mon-Fri

Pay rate (including Holiday pay) : Day £27.72

Are you a qualified and experienced Pharmacist who has worked within Hospital Settings? Do you have an all-round knowledge of hospital pharmaceutical procedures?

NHS Professionals have exciting opportunities for a Pharmacist with experience with particular experience to support our client trusts. You will maintain key relationships with co-workers and other health care professionals across the Trust to ensure an effective service.

The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre has been treating patients with bone and joint problems for more than 80 years and has a world-wide reputation for excellence in orthopaedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation. The hospital also undertakes specialist services such as the treatment of bone infection and bone tumours, limb reconstruction and the rehabilitation of those with limb amputation or complex neurological disabilities.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Interacting with patients and conducting medicines reconciliation, ordering medicines and supporting patients discharges on busy orthopaedic wards, supporting patient counselling and related problem solving.

Participating in the dispensary rota including clinical screening of prescriptions, labelling, dispensing and checking of medicines and to counsel patients or their carers on their medication.

Working with the rest of the members of the clinical pharmacy team to support the strategic developments of the service e.g. electronic prescribing, improved discharge processes, accredited technician checking etc.

Monitoring medicines use within the ward area. This includes recording of significant clinical interventions and risk management including Participation in investigating clinical incidents, Recording significant clinical incidents/near misses and Ensuring compliance with medicines legislation and local policies.

Ensuring medicines are used appropriately, safely and cost-effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures and medicines legislation.

Using available information to influence prescribers and ensure the most cost-effective choice of therapy. To actively participate in providing medicines information to all the Oxford University Hospitals during normal pharmacy opening hours.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

To be GPhC Registered and hospital experience is Highly Desirable.

Experience in using Cerner Millenium Electronic Prescribing System.

To be available for minimum 2 days per week & for minimum 3 months (offer of extension and/or alternative role).
