The National Centre For Food Manufacturing (NCFM) at the University of Lincoln is recruiting a Research Associate to work on the Smart People + Smart Process = Smart Factory (S3) Project. NCFM are partners in this initiative working with industry. The S3 Project will advance sustainability and process efficiency by turning such initiatives into a gamified production system at the industrial partner’s food manufacturing factory - enabling staff to see and then act on matters regarding process efficiency, energy use and carbon footprint. The project will also develop a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of factory operations using data analysis software packages.

The capability to assess and analyse data from manufacturing environments is desirable, and as is experience of carbon footprinting and/or LCA. Being able to work with large and potentially very complex datasets is essential. Established practice with wireless and digital technologies is desirable as is working with manufacturers in agriculture, food and beverage. The ability to work with data and connect different sources of data is crucial to the S3 project. The candidate will be based at the NCFM Holbeach Campus however frequent travel to partner sites in Essex is essential.
