As a member of the ward multidisciplinary team, this post is a key link between ward colleagues and pharmacy to improve communication and efficiency in the management of medicines (e.g. medicine supply issues, planning discharge).

Candidates interested in this position are required to bring with them motivation and a determination to succeed in a busy, high-turnover environment.

This role will be primarily based within the surgical directorate but will also involve time within the main pharmacy department, carrying out dispensing and supply activities. These activities range from preparing medication for a patients discharge either directly on the ward or within the main dispensary, ordering medication for use by in-patients and assessing the suitability of patient's own drugs (PODs) along with their transfer within the trust.

Working closely with the pharmacy stores team to ensure sufficient stock is ordered for use by ward staff to improve stock availability, reduce waste and contribute to cost savings.

It is expected that the successful candidate will work fixed hours of 08:30am - 5pm (Monday to Friday). This will NOT include weekends, Bank Holidays but may include late duty shifts until 6pm.
