Job Description

The Critical Care Department in SFH is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Health Care Support Worker. We are a 15 bedded unit who play an active role both in the Trust and the East midlands Critical Care Network. Critical Care is a dynamic work environment and is constantly changing hence we are looking for someone who will adapt to the environment and the challenges it presents.

You will have the opportunity to develop their skills and are encouraged to be part of service improvement and challenge convention.

The primary role is to support the bedside nurses in caring for the patients on the unit, this can include personal care of patients and assisting in the day to day running of the unit .

The post holder will carry out assigned tasks in delivering and supporting direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
The post holder will demonstrate a courteous and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors to the Ward/Department supporting other team members to create an environment that is motivating, stimulating and supportive. Actively keep the clinical areas clean and tidy, to maintain a safe and pleasant environment and contribute to the control of infection in clinical work areas.
To report any untoward incidents, accidents and any other relevant information to the Nurse in Charge.
Must maintain confidentiality of all patient information and maintain principles of Information Governance.

Assist in providing care to patients, in support of and supervised by Registered Nurses.
Carry out assigned duties, which maintain hygiene orderliness and safety of the ward.
To ensure the equipment is prepared and fit for use and that the area is well maintained and adequately stocked.
There may be a requirement to participate in departmental based audit and research.
The post holder will be required to handle and record details of any personal items or belongings of patients admitted to ward, ensuring they are properly stored. To support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.
