UE04: £22,630.00 - £24,715.00 Per Annum Pro Rata

CMVM / R(D)SVS / HfSA

Open Ended Contract: Part Time - A veraging 10 Hours per Week

Working two 10 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, every other weekend

Shift times are 7am-6pm TBC (with one hour of unpaid lunch)

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a passion for animal care and the drive to make a difference in the Hospital for Small Animals in Edinburgh. We are a large veterinary and teaching hospital with a great team of vets, nurses and assistants who are all committed to animal health and welfare. This is a demanding role and requires dedication, proactivity, flexibility, a strong work ethic and a strong belief in delivering the highest standard of patient care.

We have a full 6-8 week training programme where you will shadow our friendly and experienced staff to learn the ropes, training is usually required to be during our Monday-Friday normal business hours to allow for optimal support.

The Opportunity:

You will work every other weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. We have 4 weekend dedicated ACAs, 2 working each weekend day shift alongside our rolling day ACA. You will cover for the other weekend ACAs holidays (which means you may then work 3 weekends in a row) and other periods of absence, accruing paid overtime for any additional hours worked. The shifts are 10 hours long; with one hour of unpaid lunch, (day shifts only).

You will be required to work a share of the public holidays over the Christmas period, should your shifts fall on those dates.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is essential.
  • Full, clean driving licence is essential.
  • Ability to work alone as well as part of a team is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential to this role.
