EM Tuition is on a mission to close the inequality gap in education by providing inclusive services for all Children and Young People (CYP).We deliver tailored tutoring interventions for anyone missing out on or struggling to stay in education. We deliver on behalf of the local authority.
Our provision is designed to build confidence, develop relationships, and help the CYPs we work with to progress in life and education.
The role is to deliver high quality alternative learning on mainly a one to one basis working with Children and Young People (CYP). Delivery will be within identified and agreed location this could be pupil’s home or external agreed venue. You will be using creative and varied delivery methods to engage pupils who are out of mainstream education. The role is to help and support with the development and progression to learning and to integrate them back into mainstream/specialist setting. Your role will be to work to develop identified areas of weakness.
Successfully vetted candidates in the Suffolk area will be added to our staff register and matched to future placements from June onwards. Placements vary between contract length, the child's needs, session requirements, location and how many hours of support per week.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing interventions that will support the academic engagement of CYPs and working to meet a set of agreed provision targets this may be academic but may be around developing the confidence to move back into education
- Reporting of progress, behavioural presentation & safeguarding concerns relating to your CYPs
- Carrying out risk assessments of environments and activities to ensure student safety
- Keeping up to date with trends in education and being aware of current official guidance
- Ability to build relationships, motivate and handle behaviour issues of CYPs
- Specialist knowledge of learning disabilities
- Awareness of National Curriculum and relevant key stages
Desirable qualifications and experience we’re looking for in our Education Expert:
- Experience of supporting students with Special Educational Needs, Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs or other capacity (youth work, counselling or similar)
Whilst relevant qualifications and experience are desirable, having the heart to work with disengaged and SEN CYPs is key
Day to day tasks:
- Use relevant resources and equipment to support and provide feedback to pupils
- Work in a range of environments and adapt materials and delivery to meet the needs of the learners
- Track and monitor progress, assess learning and development for each pupil and manage behaviour and dynamics.
- Communicate with parents, schools and Local authority
- Understand EHCP, monitor attendance and complete reports
- Create session plans for the duration of the training programme
- Follow LA/school policy
- Respect confidentiality
- Work in line with GDPR, safeguarding, Equality and Diversity and PREVENT policies
Enhanced DBS will be required – We will consider people with non-safeguarding related convictions
Safeguarding and Prevent training will be required and provided
An Induction programme will be provided for all successful candidates
Our CYP Practitioners work on either a freelance or PAYE basis on a zero hour contract.
