Role objectives
This is a 6 month FTC role to help clear a backlog, the role is hybrid working out of the Leeds site at least 2 days a week, 3 days remote/home working although this will likely increase around month end. You will be joining a large finance team, with a supportive ethos.
As a Cashier your main role would be to maintain the companies bank, supplier and customer accounts, ensuring that cash receipts and payments are accurately reflected.
Key accountabilities
- Ensure accurate and timely recognition of cash receipts from customers and cash payments to suppliers. This is vital to managing the companies cash flow and accounting records.
- Ensure that cash is matched accurately against customer payments on their account, and the customer statement and through to the bank account. Ensure that cash is matched quickly and to the service level agreement timescales.
- Ensure that cash is matched accurately against supplier payments, and the customer Communisis supplier statement and through to the bank account. Ensure that cash is matched quickly and to the service level agreement timescales.
- Ensure that at month end, quarter end and year end – that cash is accurately matched in time to close the accounts accurately.
- Ensure that cash not matched at month end (£m) is withing the targets and thresholds.
- Ensure accurate records, including in the company accounting systems and customer statements.
- Provide the cashiers manager with accurate, comprehensive and timely information, including forecasts.
- Preparation of weekly cash receipts report to agreed timetable in advance of internal management meeting.
- Ability to escalate within the customer company to ensure cash receipts and payments records are maintained.
- Ability to work with internal colleagues (e.g. sales team, or account managers) to maximise the chances of success in receiving payments.
- Completing month end ledger control account reconciliations for review by the cashiers manager.
- Build relationships with counterparts to foster a good understanding and information flow.
Experience
- The role holder should be technically competent in the cashiers function.
- Cashiers experience is essential. Exposure to detailed accounting, data and reconciliations is key to the role.
- Self driven, results orientated with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on data management. Problem solving and the ability to handle detailed accounting work.
- A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance and has a track record of improving detailed results.
- Good communicator.
- Well presented and business like.
- Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability.
- Able to get on with others and be a team player.
- Ideally 3 years experience or more in a similar role
- Advanced at excel spreadsheet use.
- Good communicator and listener.
- Strong team player
