POST Lecturer – Travel and Tourism Lecturer

SALARY £29,443 - £41,060 per annum inclusive of LW dependent on qualifications and experience.
HOURS 36 hours per week
We are recruiting for a full-time Travel and Tourism Lecturer on a permanent contract, based at the Richmond Campus. The suitable candidate will be required to teach on Level 1/2/3 City & Guilds/BTEC/NCFE qualifications. Aviation experience would be advantageous.
Richmond upon Thames College is part of the Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge College Group (HRUC) and is one of London’s most successful Further Education Colleges providing education and training to 16-19 year old’s and adults from across Richmond, London and Surrey, for over 80 years. We have opened a new building in 2020 and due to develop a brand-new technology-focused STEM Centre for 2024.
This exciting and innovative new learning environment is located within the grounds of the current college site, so remains convenient for public transport links – it is adjacent to the A316 and just a short walk from Twickenham rail station and a number of regular London bus routes.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To fulfil the professional standards expected of all teachers and thereby create effective and stimulating opportunities for learning that enables the development and progression of all learners. Please note that it is expected that teaching duties, as outlined in this section of the job description, will be undertaken in accordance with the Professional Standards for Teachers and Trainers in Education and Training – England as published by The Education & Training Foundation.
- Plan and deliver high quality teaching on a range of courses within the curriculum area (vocational and non-vocational).
- Implement assessment procedures in accordance with College policies and the requirements of awarding bodies and prepare and participate in internal and external verification and moderation procedures including attendance at associated meetings.
- Act as a group and personal tutor, delivering the required tutorial programme and providing guidance to tutor group members. Setting personal and academic SMART targets for students.
- In accordance with College policies and guidelines, maintain course and learner records; carry out tracking and monitoring of learner performance and provide information, data and statistical returns as required, using student record information systems as required.
- To provide outstanding learning experience to students, maximising and showcasing of the use of ILT • Embrace and support new technologies. Using innovative practices to include the use of digital resources (e.g. online learning tools, applications, Microsoft Office 365, etc.)
- Desire to invest in CPD related to teaching technology and their impact on pedagogy • Adopt a consistent approach in dealing with student discipline in accordance with College policies.
- Liaise with members of the Student Services team and, as appropriate, with parents/carers in the support of learners. Preparation of periodic reports on individual student progress and attendance. Attend parents’ evenings.
- Cover classes for absent colleagues in accordance with College guidelines, which may be reviewed from time to time.
