Successful candidates will be offered the minimum of the pay scale and in some circumstances salary negotiations will be dependent on the demonstration of skills and experience. All our roles come with an excellent benefits’ package, including the generous Civil Service Pension Scheme. Further salary increases depend entirely upon the outcome of our annual pay negotiation with central government. If you are a current Civil Servant transferring to us, your salary will be discussed in line with our pay policies.

Job description

As an Intelligence Analyst at Companies House you will:

  • Own a high priority threat to develop knowledge that will drive forward the prevention and disruption of suspicious and criminal activity
  • Analyse the available intelligence and information to provide recommendations
  • Focus on the assessment of key threats whilst also identifying new and emerging threats that may need to be addressed in the future
  • Produce profiles, intelligence assessments and reports
  • Collect, interpret and evaluate all relevant data and information to clearly and accurately inform decision making and/or facilitate responses
  • Inform understanding of key issues affecting the Register of Companies
  • Develop and maintain an expert level knowledge of analytical methodologies, legislation and specific subject matter expertise
  • Maintain and further develop intelligence flows and relationships with internal and external stakeholders to inform product development.

Person specification

We’re looking for Intelligence Analysts with experience and knowledge of:

  • A proven track record working as an Intelligence Analyst in law enforcement, government or similar
  • Delivering high quality intelligence products and services that identify intelligence gaps, make recommendations and influence decision making
  • Utilising analytical tools, techniques and methodologies to gather, receive, analyse, evaluate, develop and disseminate intelligence
  • Handling sensitive information in line with legal and procedural requirements
  • The intelligence cycle and the role of intelligence in the investigative process
  • The principles of the National Intelligence Model
  • Communicating confidently with a variety of stakeholders – internally and externally.

  • We’re looking for Intelligence Analysts with: Formal training in Intelligence Analysis – this could be a qualification such as, Level 4 Diploma in Intelligence Analysis, NIAT, GIAT, DIAM, ANACAPA or an equivalent.

What will the process look like?

  • We’ll carry out a sift of applications and successful candidates at sift will be invited to interview, where we’ll explore your skills, experiences, the behaviours mentioned in the advert and your strengths. There will also be an activity as part of the interview process.

Where will you be working?

The majority of this team are currently working in a hybrid way and this will also apply to this role – currently the successful candidates will be asked to attend our Cardiff office a minimum of 1 day each week, with the rest of the time working from home. In future this could increase when office attendance is reviewed. Also, there will be an initial training period for this role where successful candidates will be based in our Cardiff office.

Successful candidates must pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before they can be appointed.
BPSS is an entry level security check. It uses the Police National Computer (PNC) to make sure a candidate has no convictions. The check returns evidence of any current criminal record and un-spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed. To gain (SC) clearance you will normally need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years, and will need to successfully complete all stages of the vetting process which includes:
  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard
  • Departmental/Company Records Check
  • Security Questionnaire
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Credit Reference Check
  • Security Service Check

Candidates will be subject to UK immigration requirements as well as Civil Service nationality rules.
